I have been working hard to find a solution to the problem that some of my visitors have been having. Namely, getting questions answered in a more timely manner. Due to my currently heavy workload, I am sometimes not as available as I would like to be for my current clients, as well as prospective clients. To solve this problem, I have added a Knowledgebase, updated my FAQ page, and provided a way for you to see when I am online and available for questions. Please provide me with some feedback on these additions, so that I can continue to improve customer service.
Hi, and welcome to the first newsletter of 2008! Along with a new year comes a new look for the newsletter, as well as a planned new layout for Prescott Websites. Don’t worry, you will still get the same excellent service as always, as well as the same creativity that you are used to.
Speaking of creativity, I am ready and waiting to create a great site just for you, and I am VERY relaxed, thanks to Sandi, from Absolutely Wonderful Massage by Sandi. I recently had a LaStone massage, and it certainly got the creative juices flowing.
Take your time and read through the entire newsletter. You will probably find out something you didn’t know, or a least something about web design that you can share with a friend.
I would also like to announce that I am still working on getting my photography site up and running. You can see what I have so far at the newly updated Aquarius Photography site.
For a limited time, I am offering new clients the option of paying for their websites on a monthly basis. What this means, is that for a limited time (through the end of March 2008), you can sign up to have me design you a website, make a downpayment of only $100.00, and pay the remainder of the balance in equal monthly payments*.
Learn more...My latest project was one that was for a fellow BNI member. She is a graphic artist, so she came up with her own layout for the site. I then turned her design into a website, by hand coding the html and css. I also added a slideshow script on the homepage, as she requested, so potential clients/ site visitors would be able to see her work samples right away. If you are in need of some design work, for yourself or someone you know, visit Colleen's newly re-designed website. And be sure to let her know that you heard about her here.
I am constantly learning, and visiting interesting websites having to do with web design, web development and photography. I recently discovered a great site, created by a young lady in Iowa. After reading one of her posts, I came up with the idea for a site that would allow teens to voice their opinions and ideas about who they support in the upcoming election, as well as to share their political opinions in general. To start, Hannah has set up the site as a forum, with the ability for the site to expand as the number of visitors increases. If you would like to support our efforts in getting the word out about this new site, please contact me or Hannah, and tell all the young people that you know about this great new site!
I gave a 10 minute presentation (at our weekly BNI meeting) on website design, focusing on the costs of a website versus the costs of traditional advertising. Basically, you get targeted traffic (people ready to buy your products or services) through a website, but with newspaper ads, for instance, anybody can pick it up and see your ad.

If you are having trouble seeing your screen clearly, you may need this solution. It is very effective in getting your monitor clean.
Are you tired of Microsoft Word? Have you tried to copy and paste text from Word into your webpage, only to have it appear as some type of weird heiroglyphics? That is because Word adds extra things that you don’t need. The best solution is to use a plain text editor, such as Notepad ++. Another option for Word is the open source Open Office. You can also easily created .pdf files with Open Office. Give it a try.
Do you like the idea of Photoshop, but you don’t have the $600 for the new CS3? Why not try another open source solution? If you are in need of an image editing program, The Gimp may be what you are looking for. It offers some basic image manipulation, and there are quite a few tutorials to help get you started.
That’s about it for this issue. I hope you enjoyed it and learned something new. Be sure to visit my unofficial sponsors, listed on the right of this newsletter. They are all members of the Partners in Profit group of BNI, and they all have some amazing products and/or services!
Until next time...
